Risk management

Live Well Adventures takes risk management very seriously. However, all adventure comes with a level of risk attached to them, and arguably this risk is part of the appeal. By choosing to join one of our adventures you are accepting the risks involved. These risks come in many forms some are; the weather, method of transport or the environment that we are operating within. However, it is important for you to know that the first step we take when discussing risk for our adventures is to identify any potential hazards. Once these hazards have been identified we create plans that aim to minimise this risk. Furthermore, additional planning is then conducted in order to reduce the effects of the risk should an incident occur.

Experienced risk management

Live Well Adventures has solid foundations when planning for potential risk. Our founder has over 18 years worth of experience in the British Army that is utilised and subsequently enables us to conduct higher risk activities on a more routine basis. Experience and training for Live Well Adventures staff facilitates appropriate action to be taken under potentially dangerous and stressful conditions.  Along with experience we implement detailed risk assessments recognised by industry that enable us to identify risks and plan to both mitigate them as well as minimise the impact should the need arise.

1. Assess

Live Well Adventures will conduct a detailed and full risk assessment prior to each adventure. During this phase, we will identify potential hazards and subsequently plan what measures we will put in place to reduce the chance of this risk occurring as well as reducing the impact of it. Ultimately, even after we have conducted the risk assessment, adventure carry's risk and it is the responsibility of our clients to conclude if they are content to accept this risk.

2. Plan

Now that we have identified what hazards we may encounter when deployed on an adventures we develop a detailed plan for each of these hazards. Our team will consider what mitigation measures need to be actioned in order to reduce the risk where possible. These measures may include but are not limited to:

  • Creating a medical plan based on where we are and what facilities are available.

  • Creating a communications plan to ensure as best possible we are able to call for medical assistance.

  • Ensuring all our adventures are equipped with a comprehensive first aid kit.

  • Conduct detailed briefs that inform all of our clients of the day’s plan.

  • Create a detailed overall plan for each of our adventures.

3. Action

All our Live Well Adventures leaders are highly experienced and trained at operating under potentially dangerous and stressful conditions. When out on an adventure they are responsible for risk management and implementing all mitigation measures. Should an incident and / or an emergency occur when out they will manage the situation using their experience, training along with pre-written and rehearsed techniques and procedures.
